The history book of Indian Women Pilots
Remember when you tried to come home and express what that last approach was like? Remember when you glanced
down from the corner of your eye while flying the other day, and saw the sunset, moonrise and that star shining bright - all
at once, almost begging you to paint it? Known as the one with the yarns in all your circles? Seen faces glazing over
just as soon as you start to share your enthusiasm?
Here's someone who's listening - this is your chance to be archived!
It doesn't matter if you were not the first, the brightest, the most skillful or the most knowledgeable
- we want because you count. Every small pixel goes a long way in making the complete bitmap, and
so it is with you. You don't have to be a member - You don't even have to be a resident Indian - As long
as you are of Indian origin and are a female pilot, we want to know about you!
We are still in the data-collection stage, so youvé still got time! And guess what? No hassle of having
to snail-mail your Resume and put together those cryptic details in a word file - all you need to do now is fill
out the form below as promptly as possible, and if you are feeling especially wordy, go ahead and fill out the huge note box we
have supplied for you at the end. And oh, just so you know, all your contact details are just for the webcaptain to get in
touch with you in case she needs more details or just wants to say, "WOW girl, you done good!" - so dont worry about those
going into print; they won't.
Last but definately not the least, go get out that digital camera catching dust on the
mantle, perch yourself on your favorite seat in the cockpit or outside your wonderful flying machine and get ready to
pose baby! Send us that picture of you, preferably in soft-copy and that's done!
You are welcome... Anytime!
Stripe-rs Forum
As we keep finding ourselves saying, lots is going on in the realm of Indian women pilots. General aviation
is on the rise in India - more and more ladies are taking to the skies, getting certified and even securing those lucious
airline/corportate job positions that were so long only the domain of our male counterparts.
The IWPA has always been a great source of moral support to this erstwhile minority - counselling, mentoring, networking trainees through the trying phase of yearning to get trained and endorsed in
the midst of a serious lack of well-distributed information.
We are now toying with the idea of making this support electronic and formal. How about an email network,
or even an online forum?
In the mood to propogate a good flying practice? Need help adjusting the ergonomics in your cockpit space? Feel like you have been victim to harassment, sexual or otherwise? Excited about an approach
you flew and just want to share it? Seeking the best overnight toothbrush, but too sheepish to ask? Require
assistance being a pilot Mommy? Endured unpaid leave through pregnancy & wonder why? Want to advertise that
uncharted antenna right on final runway 06? Just plain hankering for someone to talk aviation to? In BKK every single month - anyone else out there too? Wondering if you will ever find uniform pants
that actually fit?
Maybe! Let's at least get together and talk about it! We have been a fragmented group for way
to long. Finally, a platform where we can all get together and talk shop, in colours that matter to us. Being a pilot is one
thing, but being a woman pilot is yet another!
The shape of this forum will totally depend on what you
- the members have in mind, heart and creative resources. So we would love to hear from you - what ideas has
this little suggestive idea spawned? Spill all to: sonalgopujkar@gmail.com
NSC Aerospace Hall - Phase two
Now that we have been through the process of coming up with the idea, helping lay the foundation, supplementing
with media support and technical suggestions and even creating a video report of the project, its time to put our heads together
and contribute to phase two!
The Nehru Science Center (NSC) Aerospace Hall even today plays host to thousands of visitors every month, and the management at the center has had it in their wings to
bring in more airplane models and working scale-models of engines to constitute the Phase Two project.
We, the ardent supporters will be involved in any way possible within our capabilities to complement
it. If you have any ideas on how to help, email captsonalgopujkar@gmail.com.
